KOREA VISION TRIP REPORT

저는 '다른 사람에게 축복이 되자'가 모토인 Living Stone 남자 중고등학교 (LSBS, 탄자니아 무헤자 지역 중등학교) 2학년 학생 Allan Ezekiel Kagizo입니다.

2023년 7월 4일, 저를 포함한 LSBS 학생 12명이 한국으로 수학여행을 떠났습니다. 우리 학교 교장 Mr. Meinrad Boniface와 컴퓨터 교사 Mr. Martin Ainea가 우리 여행을 이끌었습니다. 이번 여행에서 저는 태어나서 한 번도 본 적도, 경험해 본 적도 없는 흥미로운 것들과 생활방식을 많이 보고 배웠습니다.

제가 기억에 남는 좋은 장소는 다음과 같습니다. 먼저, 서울기독대학교는 우리가 서울에 머무는 동안 편안한 숙소를 제공해 주었습니다. 거기에서 우리는 오두산 통일전망대 (파주)를 방문했습니다. 우리는 1950년 한국전쟁에 대한 다양한 정보를 접했는데, 그 주된 이유는 자본주의를 선택한 남한과 공산주의를 선택한 북한의 이념 차이 때문이었다. 그리고 망원경을 이용해 국경의 남북한 생활상을 관찰했습니다. 자본주의가 발전으로 이어진다는 것을 국경을 보면서 배웠습니다.

또한 우리는 국제선교성경학교(IMBS)의 초대를 받았습니다. 그곳에서 선교사처럼 소명을 실천하기 위해 준비하는 우리 또래의 학생들을 만났습니다. 그들은 환영파티로 우리를 따뜻하게 맞아 주었습니다. 저는 학생들이 우리를 많은 사랑으로 친근하게 대해주었기 때문에 좋았습니다. 우리는 그들과 함께 점심과 저녁을 먹으며 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.

연세대학교는 정말 아름답고 매력적이었습니다. 학교 홍보대사와 함께 캠퍼스 곳곳을 둘러보고 산책했습니다. 그곳에서 양화진 선교사 묘역으로 이동했습니다. 우리는 한국에 기독교를 전하러 온 많은 선교사들의 무덤을 보고 그들의 선교 활동에 대해 배웠습니다. 그 중에 연세대학교를 설립한 언더우드 선교사님이 가장 기억에 남습니다. 저는 연세대 언더우드 기념관을 방문했을 때부터 그의 이름을 기억했습니다.

또 다른 곳은 윌슨 선교사가 설립한 한국 최초의 나병센터인 윌슨나병센터 (애양병원) 입니다. 우리는 애양박물관에서 병원의 역사에 대해 배웠습니다. 하지만 현재 한국에는 나병 환자가 없기 때문에 인공관절과 난치성 피부 전문병원을 운영하고 있습니다.

제가 제일 좋아한 곳은 롯데월드였습니다. 우리는 롯데월드 어드벤처, 민속촌, 아쿠아리움, 롯데월드 스카이타워를 즐겼습니다. 저는 이 지역이 정말 마음에 들었고, 특히 높이 555m, 123층의 세계에서 5번째로 높은 건물인 롯데 타워가 정말 마음에 들었습니다.

7월 8일에는 신성장로교회를 방문했습니다. 우리는 두 번의 예배에 참석했습니다. 하나님과 교회 앞에 찬양을 부르고, 성도들을 만나 점심을 먹었습니다. 그런 다음 우리는 아이파크몰에 가서 영화를 보고, 필요한 전자제품을 샀습니다. 저는 그날 저녁 처음으로 햄버거를 먹었습니다.

또 어느 날, 우리는 서울월드컵경기장에서 FC서울이 주최하는 경기를 관람했습니다. 환상적인 경험이었습니다. 또한 우리는 Easy Networks 라는 회사를 방문했는데 회사 대표께서 우리 모두에게 노트북과 무선 마우스를 선물로 주었습니다.

그리고 여기저기 방문하고 사람들을 만나면서 비빔밥, 설렁탕, 갈비탕, 초밥, 돈까스, 후라이드 치킨, 감자튀김 등 다양한 한국의 음식을 먹고 젓가락 사용법도 배웠습니다.

전반적으로 저는 한국에서 다음과 같은 것들을 배웠습니다. 기술(테크놀로지)은 곧 발전이다, 자유는 그냥 오지 않는다, 사랑이 있으면 실천한다, 기독교를 전파하는 하나님의 사명을 위해 다른 사람들을 도와라, 자기 성취와 성공에 있어서 결코 하나님을 잊지 말자, 하나님을 최우선으로 삼으라, 그리고 사랑과 용서입니다.

7월 15일, 한국 갈 때와 같은 항공사, 에티오피아항공을 이용하여 탄자니아로 돌아가는 여행을 시작했습니다. 우리는 하나님의 도우심으로 무사히 고국에 도착했습니다.

저는 무엇보다도 우리의 주인이신 전능하신 하나님께 모든 감사를 드립니다. 그리고 이번 여행에 참가하기까지 부모님의 지원에 감사드립니다. 또한 이번 여행을 계획하고 준비해주신 학교 설립자인 박윤석 목사님과 그의 아내 김은래 선교사님께도 감사드립니다. 그들의 사랑스러운 마음과 이번 여행에서의 보살핌에 감사드리며, 하나님께서 그들을 축복하시기를 바랍니다. 아멘!!!

I am Allan Ezekiel Kagizo, a second-year student in Living Stone Boy’s Seminary (LSBS, secondary school in Muheza district, Tanzania), whose motto is ‘Be a blessing to others.’

On the 4th of July, 2023, 12 students in LSBS, including me, went on a school trip to South Korea. Our school principal, Mr. Meinrad Boniface, and the ICT teacher, Mr. Martin Ainea, led our travel. On this trip, I learned a lot and saw many fascinating things and lifestyles I had never seen or experienced since I was born.

Some places I have good memories of are as follows. Seoul Christian University supplied comfortable accommodation for us during the whole time we stayed in Seoul. From there, we visited the Odusan Unification Observatory. We were told various information about the Korean War in 1950, caused mainly by the difference in ideologies between the South Koreans, who chose capitalism, and the North Koreans, who chose socialism. Also, we observed the border of South Korea and North Korea using binoculars. I learned by watching the border that capitalism leads to development.

We were invited to the International Mission Bible School (IMBS). We met its students similar age to us, preparing themselves to live like missionaries in the vocation. They welcomed us warmly with a party. I liked the students because they had much love and sociality for us. We enjoyed with them also eating lunch and dinner.

Yonsei University was so beautiful and fascinating. We had the campus tour with the school ambassador and walked around. From there, we moved to the Yanghwajin cemetery of missionaries. We saw the graves of many missionaries who brought Christianity to Korea and learned their mission work. Among them I remember the most was missionary Underwood, who founded Yonsei University. I had retained his name since I visited the Underwood Memorial Hall on the Yonsei campus.

Another place was the Wilson Leprosy Center (Aeyang Hospital), the first leprosy center in South Korea, founded by Missionary Wilson. We learned about its history in the Aeyang Museum. But because there is no leprosy in Korea now, the hospital has specialized in artificial joints and intractable skin.

Lotte World was my favorite place. We enjoyed the Lotte World Adventure, Folk Village, Aquarium, and the Lotte World Sky Tower. I really loved the area, especially the tower, which is 555 meters tall with 123 floors and is the 5th tallest building in the world.

On 8th July, we went to the Sin-Seong Presbyterian Church. We had two services; we sang songs to God and the church, met with the church people, and ate lunch with them. Then we went to the I-Park Mall, where we watched a movie at the theater, bought some needed electronics, and had hamburgers for the first time there.

Another day, we watched a match hosted by FC Seoul at Seoul World Cup Stadium. It was a fantastic experience. Also, we went to the Easy Networks Company Limited, where we were given gifts (a laptop and a wireless mouse for each).

Also, together with visiting all those places and meeting with different people, we ate various Korean foods like Bibimbap, Seolleongtang, Galbitang, sushi, Tonkatsu, fried chicken, and French fries, and also learned how to use chopsticks.

Overall, I learned the following things in South Korea: Technology is development; Freedom is not free; if you love, you will practice; help others for God’s mission of spreading Christianity; never forget God in self-achievement and success; make God first; and, love and forgiveness.

On 15th July, we started our trip back to Tanzania using Ethiopian Airlines, the same airline when going to South Korea. We reached our homeland safely with the help of God.

Most of all, thank God Almighty, our Master. I want to acknowledge the support of my parents until I participated in this trip. I also thank our school founder, pastor Andrew Park, and his wife, Madam Eunrea Kim, who planned and organized this vision trip. I am grateful for their lovely hearts and care during this trip, and may God bless them. AMEN!!!
